Midhurst Model Exhibition, 19th February 2012

Jack lead a group of 7 club members and put on another great display at this “local” show.

Celebrating it’s 30th year, this may well be the last as there is a rumour the building will be pulled down in favour of retirement homes. A special thanks to new members who have joined the regulars in supporting such events and are helping to bring shows to the public and promote the club.

The exhibition had the usual mix of modelling, covering, Model boats, railways, Meccano, scale model cars, model aircraft, scale steam, military modelling and more. These events offer an opportunity to meet old friends - where our members have known other club’s members stretching back over 10’s of years and use these events to catch up - and chat to like minded modellers and members of the public.

Warwick International Model Boat Show, 11th to 13th Nov 2011

Many members made the fairly lengthy journey of around 90 miles to Warwick to enjoy a full day’s entertainment, chat to modellers and stock up on materials from the trade suppliers.

Possibly the best show of the year, it didn’t disappoint, featuring many models from the ordinary to the exquisite. Our members skills match the very best on display; in fact, BMBC members have displayed at this show in the past.

Please help us  If you enjoy the web, then why not contribute to it with photos and articles? Most people have a digital camera these days. The club has some marvellous models and they don’t come out all the time. It’s better to capture them on the water. I can teach you how to send an attachment with emails ( a photo or a text document) or you can bring the camera along to the pond and have the pictures transferred to a computer.)

Kits

It’s difficult to know what members and visitors get out of the web, however we are certainly getting many new members and faces at the pondside.

I want to include a feature on “kits and hulls” to help new modellers become informed on what to buy, how easy they are to build and other useful information. There is a growing number of kits and many look really great. Why not contribute to this new feature. Email mikee dot edwards at btopenworld dot com?

Miniature Steam Rally, Viables, 16th/17th April 2011 (Viables show link)

Club members Jack Sharp, Robin Lock, Joe Harwood and Mike Edwards attended the recent Basingstoke and District Model Engineering Society Miniature Steam Rally over two days and displayed a range of models, bringing the club’s activities to the attention of modellers from as far afield as Exeter. The weather was great, though we were indoors, but it attracted many visitors to this annual show. The stand extended across several benches in the centre of the main hall, surrounded by model engines and steam antiquities.
