A great boating pond, welcoming members and some magnificent models await you!
Club membership
Basingstoke Model Boat Club can be contacted at a meeting or the by mailing Gordon at;
With around 50 members, there is a wide variety of scale, steam, ready to sail kits and yachts of all kinds . Some members have up to 40 models and will grace the pond with a different one every week.
A recent treat in the shape of a delta wing electric flying boat graced the airspace over the pond and enthralled everyone in attendance.
All welcome
Wether you have a simple home made boat or a £2000 scale battleship, this is a great place to come and you don’t have to only turn up on Sunday and Wednesdays, though you are really welcome.
If you have a new boat straight out of the box, want to get ideas about what to buy or just enjoy model boats then members will happily help you out and make you feel welcome. Turn up any other time and it won’t be long before another modeller turns up or members of the public stop by or families join you at the pond.
The pond is always available and you’ll often find other boaters join you.. You’ll be amazed at how interested the general public, young boys or dog walkers are to see the pond in use and very likely to join you at the pond side or sit on the wall and watch.
From a base of virtually no yachts, there is now a very strong yacht showing every Sunday - and many evenings a week when weather and light permits - which we have grown to appreciate. Though currently, no yacht racing takes place, several racing members attend with a variety of models. Racing takes place elsewhere at Frensham, Burghfield and other local lakes I will identify.
